Meet Our Herd

No two horses that come into our care have the same needs. Some come from backgrounds of abuse, neglect, starvation, or injury, while others simply have never been adequately handled. Special needs horses will be adopted out on a case-by-case basis. Our goal is to find a loving home for all the equines that come into our care. If you are interested in adopting an equine, fill out the below adoption form and email it to Serenityeqrescue@gmail.com

Adoptable Horses:

Iris

Iris was surrendered to us. She had never been off her home property and had been living alone for over a year. She had never had her teeth done, hadn’t seen a vet in years, and her feet were overgrown. She is now working with a trainer to improve her ground manners and conquering her fears such as confined spaces. Iris currently has her adoption pending.

Moe

Moe is a 12-year-old mini mule. Moe was surrendered to us from his owner and was placed with a local foster. Moe was previously unhandled, but is a curious boy and seems intrigued by humans. In the past couple of weeks Moe’s personality has slowly come out, and we are seeing how funky of a guy he is.  We are currently working to get Moe acclimated to a typical barn environment, humans, and being regularly handled. We estimate that Moe will be ready for adoption in fall of 2024.

Success Stories:

Twinkle

Twinkle is a fully blind mini pony. Twinkle was acquired from an auction, where he was being offered as a lesson pony. We soon realized that Twinkle is fully blind and now lives out his days listening for the crumple of a treat bag.

Lil Bit

Lil Bit was rescued from an auction when she was 2. She had never been adequately handled and was terrified of human touch. She now cannot get enough of you and loves to venture into anyone’s pockets for snacks.

Milo

Milo came to Serenity Equine Rescue after being sold at an auction for $100. Milo was soon gelded, and started to put on weight wonderfully! He had an old pastern injury; after consultation with multiple vets it was agreed that he must have caught his leg in barbed wire before we got him and it was left there for days. He is fully sound and now is a trail horse for his new forever family.

Ellie

Ellie was acquired from a local auction due to her low body score. Once she received adequate dentistry care, as well as a slow refeeding diet, Ellie started to thrive. Ellie has been adopted out, and she still loves everyone she meets.

Sunny

Sunny was rescued from auction being used as a trail horse. It became abundantly clear that he had pneumonia, and was emaciated. He was put in a refeeding program and his pneumonia was slowly being treated. He ended up
passing due to complications with antibiotics.

Tedford

Tedford was a senior pony that was sold at an auction as a 14 year old. Once we brought him home and he saw our vet we learned that he was 28! When Tedford first came into our care he was fearful of anyone lifting their hands. It took months of positive reinforcement for him to be comfortable with new and old people. Tedford passed in 2022 and we miss his breakfast screams very much!
